Welcome to First Weekend Chess, a new friendly chess tournament based in the Midlands. Our second tournament is on 1-2 February, 2020.

First Weekend Chess Tournament is held on the first weekend of every quarter.

Here are the dates for the next 3 first weekend tournaments

  • 2nd First Weekend Tournament, 1-2 February, 2020
  • 3rd First Weekend Tournament, 2-3 May, 2020
  • 4th First Weekend Tournament, 1-2 August, 2020

3 games are played on Saturday and 2 games on Sunday.
All games are standard play. 80 minutes plus 10 seconds through out.
All games are FIDE rated and ECF graded.

  • Under 1600 and ECF U120
  • Under 1900 and ECF U160
  • Under 2200

Saturday
Round 1: 10:30 – 13:30
Round 2: 14:00 – 17:00
Round 3: 17:00 – 20:00

Sunday
Round 4: 10:00 – 13:00
Round 5: 13:30 – 16:30

Entry Fee
ECF Platinum/Gold Members : £30
ECF Silver/Bronze Members : £40

Players registered to Federations other than ENG: £30

Seedings and Ratings

U2200 – January 2020 FIDE std play ratings are used for seeding.
U1900 & ECF U160 – January 2020 ECF std grades are used for seeding .
U1600 & ECF U120 – January 2020 ECF std grades are used for seeding.
All Sections – January 2020 FIDE and ECF ratings are used for entry criteria.

Refreshments

Free Samosas, Tea, Coffee, Cookies, Sweets and Fruit are provided. Lunch can be bought from the surrounding shops which are just outside the venue. Venue has fridge, micro oven, analysis room

Parking

Free Parking. 30 car spaces on-site and ample off-road parking around venue.

Chess Essentials will be attending with their amazing chess stall. Supplier of stationery, chess books for adults and juniors, Dvds, chess boards, economy digital clocks, DGT clocks, chess pieces wooden and plastic. Boards of all types.
